Cremation

Shoalhaven Bereavement Services provides end-to-end cremation services within the Shoalhaven Memorial Gardens and Lawn Cemetery at Worrigee.

You or your loved one can be cremated prior to or following a funeral or memorial service, or without any type of service.
Funeral directors will book the cremation with Shoalhaven Bereavement Services on your behalf and arrange the transportation of the body to the Worrigee crematoria.

From there the Shoalhaven Bereavement staff will take into their care the person for cremation. They attentively monitor each step in the process until the ashes of the person are placed in a secure facility to be collected by the applicant, funeral director or placed in a reserved plot in a cemetery.

Should you choose to witness the cremation as part of your journey to say goodbye, there is a viewing room that can be booked on request.

Can pacemakers or radioactive implants be cremated?

These items can explode at high temperatures, not only causing damage to the cremator, but also placing the Shoalhaven Bereavement Services staff at risk. They will need to be removed by the funeral director prior to cremation.

Are the ashes just from the one person who has been cremated?

Only one coffin can fit in the cremator at a time and the remains are withdrawn from the cremation chamber before it can be used again. All coffins are identified with a label which follows the coffin throughout the entire process to when the unique ashes are placed in an urn.
